From February 7 to 13, 2012, a distinguished delegation of eight core member of CIVD (Caraning Industrie Verbandes Deutschland) visited China. The visiting members include CEOs of big RV companies with 80-90% of market share in Germany, marking the unprecedented presence of CIVD in China this time.
During the trip, the delegation has held several meetings with some industry media and relevant companies, for example, raccc.com, BEGAP, China Travel Service Group (CTS), Zoemo, Centech and China Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. through which they gained a deep insight into Chinese caravaning industry. Raccc.com escorted the delegation as an official media partner.
"In Europe, the annual production of 150,000 RV creates the production value of 5.8 billion euro ($ 7.5 billion). Before the financial crisis of 2008, the caravaning industry development in Europe is very prosperous," said Mr. Hans-Karl Sternberg, Director General of CIVD, "Yet the development in recent years is not quite satisfactory. We hope that the annual sales can be recovered soon. Of course, Europe is still a major market for RV. But other countries are also important for the business growth."
Concerning the major purpose to visit China this time, Mr. Sternberg said, "On one hand, we want to communicate with representatives of Chinese governmental functionaries and partners and learn about the status quo of the policy and market environment for the access of European RV into China. And on the other hand, China Automobile Trading Co., Ltd (CATA) intends to acquire RVs from Germany. This time we will have a further talk with CATA. We believe that the European products and performance features fit needs of Chinese and hope to make a good preparation for the entry of our products into China."
During the delegation's visit, CTS announced for the first time its ten-year development plan (2011-2020) of RV business: 50 RV campsites will be built by 2015; 500 RV campsites will be created through various operation modes by 2020 with the annual sales of 40,000 in China. The company will go to Germany to acquire the first batch of RVs recently. CATC will also gradually purchase German RV for the preliminary exploration of the Chinese market.
Hans-Klaus Förtsch, President of Fendt-Caravan GmbH and CIVD, said they have seen the huge potential of Chinese market during this trip.
